CONCEPT APARTMENT: THE BULBANCHA
Nomita Joshi Studio has transformed the second-floor apartment of their 1850s Creole townhouse into a "concept apartment" that reflects the studio's cultural modernist philosophy. This space, affectionately named THE BULBANCHA—meaning "land of many people" in the Choctaw language—was the original name of New Orleans. The apartment bursts with a vibrant mix of rich colors, textures, and cultural artifacts. Ms. Joshi-Gupta's design style beautifully merges elements from her two home cultures, Bangalore, India, and New Orleans, United States, drawing inspiration from history, luxury, vibrancy, and craftsmanship.
